
Dr John Inge (KC'73) receives Lanfranc Award and KCVO

We are delighted to share good news from Dr John Inge, who retired as Bishop of Worcester after 17 years in September. Lanfranc Award for Education and Scholarship In September 2024, The Archbishop of Canterbury presented Dr John Inge, with the Lanfranc Award for Education and Scholarship. The Lanfranc Award, which was presented to Bishop John at Lambeth Palace on Friday 20th September, recognises outstanding work in field of theological education. Bishop John received the award before a ceremony in Lambeth Palace Chapel conferring doctorates to graduands of the Lambeth Research Degrees in Theology (LRDT) programme, whose Council he has chaired since 2019. The Lanfranc Award is named after the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1070-1089, who was a scholar and a teacher. Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order In December of 2024, in recognition of his service as Lord High Almoner, John was invested a KCVO, an order of knighthood, by King Charles III. This news was well received on the OCC Facebook account, with positive comments and likes including: 'Such great news. He had a major influence on me in my first term at KC.' John Powell |
